Naples is raw, high-octane energy, a place of soul-stirring art and panoramas, spontaneous conversations and unexpected, inimitable elegance. Welcome to Italy's most unlikely masterpiece. Naples' millennia-old backstory could bust a bookshelf. Settled by the Greeks and conquered by the Romans, it's a nail-biting tale where myth and fact entwine into one bewitching whole.

Atrani won’t be the first place which comes to mind when you think of Italian beach resorts. But it is the place you should visit if you want to find out what Italy is truly all about. Even though Atrani is just a short drive away from Amalfi, the famous and bustling holiday spot, it remains unspoiled by mass tourism and is one of Italy’s best-kept secrets.

HIKE THE PATH OF THE GODS

This is certainly the best Hike on the Amalfi Coast! One of the best ways to enjoy the beautiful Amalfi Coastline indeed, is hiking the Path of the Gods. It stretches from Bamberano to Nocelle and winds through ancient historical towns and ruins. Make sure to have a break at the Belvedere viewpoint for the most dramatic view and at the Lemon Point in Nocelle for a fresh lemonade.

A WALK IN AMALFI TOWN

Located by the sea, Amalfi is a labyrinth of narrow and crowed streets, where locals live in close contact with tourists. When walking around the town center you will find several typical street food shops and souvenir shops. As you will certainly notice, in the Amalfi Coast Lemons are the absolute main character! However, in Amalfi there’s the veneration of the small red pepper! You will see hot peppers hanged to walls all over town, as well as baskets filled with these vegetables! Surely the most appreciated souvenir!

Positano is surely the most mundane location on the Amalfi Coast. Its buildings cling on to the rock and their colors form a perfect canvas for the bright flowers which decorate the houses. Positano is renowned for beach fashion; its elegant shop windows are full of displays of brightly colored robes, bikinis, bags, and Bermuda shorts all made in cool linen, gauze and cotton. In addition to clothing, this town is known for fashion accessory production. Positano sandals, flip flops, wooden and cork clogs, are made by famous shoemakers, and by cobblers, who can create pairs of shoes by hand, on request, while the customers wait outside. Positano is full of small restaurants where it’s possible to taste delicious fish dishes of the Mediterranean cuisine and particularly the most typical and traditional cake: Delizia al Limone!

A DAY AT THE BEACH

As to a beach day, you are spoilt for choice! The Amalfi Coastline is full of incredible sea landscapes and beaches.

To mention a few

  • Marina Grande, in Positano, is one of the longest beaches on the coast, where you can get a large sprinkling of Amalfi Coast glam and maybe spot a couple celebs.

  • Arienzo beach, is one of the few beaches in Positano to have sun in the afternoon. If you don’t mind descending around 300 steps, here you will find clearer waters than those of Marina Grande and also a beach club with restaurant.

  • Gavitella Beach, in Praiano. Caught in a cove of about 30 meters, its waters are a deep emerald blue. To reach it, you need to get off the stairs, but once you get down, the effort will be rewarded by the view of Positano, the islands of Li Galli and Capri.

  • The beach of Castiglione, in Ravello, is a small and lovely sandy beach. Here the sun beats until early afternoon.

amalfi_web_map_pompeii_edited.png

A very interesting trip you can make when staying in Ravello, is a visit to the well-preserved ruins of Pompei. In 79 AD Mount Vesuvius erupted volcanic ashes and lapilli over the village of Pompei: the entire town and around 20,000 of its inhabitants were buried under tons of ash and pumice. Now, almost 2000 years later, you have the chance to visit the surprisingly well-preserved remains of the city.

LEMON TOUR

Different Lemon Tours are available in the Amalfi Coast. You will discover the types of lemons grown and learn about the harvesting and production. After exploring the grounds you’ll be able to taste the freshly made Limoncello. A truly unforgettable experience.

amalfi_web_map_sorrento_edited.png

A small resort with a big reputation, Sorrento is a town of lemons, high-pedigree hotels and plunging cliffs that cut through the heart of the historical core. The town’s longstanding popularity stems from its location at the western gateway to the Amalfi Coast. It’s also on the train line to Pompeii and has regular fast-ferry connections to Naples and Capri.

amalfi_web_map_ravello_edited.png

Thousands of years of history, an enchanting mountaintop setting on Italy’s most beautiful coastline and views that have captivated countless souls, inspired artists and filled hearts with passion. Yet it’s just the beginning of what you will find in this charming village on the Amalfi Coast.

COOKING COURSE WITH MAMMA AGATA

If you’d like to learn how to cook a typical Amalfi Coast dish, you should absolutely take a cooking class with Mamma Agata. She has been the chef for many stars, including Humphrey Bogart, Jaqueline Kennedy and Federico Fellini. During her course you will assist to a “demonstration cooking class”; moreover, you will have the possibility to visit the garden and pick vegetables. Finally, you will have the chance to taste the food cooked during the class.

amalfi_web_map_capri_edited.jpg

When in the Amalfi Coast, a boat trip to Capri is absolutely a must! A ferry will take you from Amalfi to Capri in just 1 hour. When in the so called “Blue Island”, you can have a drink in the Piazzetta and, from there, have walk to the Quisisana where you can shop in the most exclusive luxury boutiques. Alternatively, you can spend the day at La Fontelina where you can soak up the sun in front of the Faraglioni rocks and enjoy some of the best seafood lunch around!

amalfi_web_map_fuordodifurore_edited.png

Fiordo di Furore, which is actually a ria, not a fjord, is an inlet created by the Schiato torrent that flows between the rocks, creating a valley that opens to the sea. It is located near the small town of Furore, with the name coming from Latin Terra Furoris (Land of Fury), because of the deafening sound of the waves crashing on the cliffs.

amalfi_web_map_campanella_edited.png

At the point where the Monti Latteri starts to slope down towards the sea, Punta Campanella links the Sorrentine Peninsula with the Amalfi Coast. A land of myths and legends, this narrow strip of land stretches out to sea as if wishing to be reunited with the nearby island of Capri, from which it was separated many thousands of years ago.
